Cost savings and flexibility

The Winsors liked having the ability to change the standard design.

Brad and Kylie Winsor of Cootamundra estimated that they saved more than $100,000 by owner-managing the building of their new Paal home.

They also enjoyed the process of reshaping the standard plan to suit their own needs – a process that is simple with Paal’s modular designs.

The Winsors’ five bedroom Derwent provides country living in the grand style, with plenty of room for a growing family.

They added an additional bedroom, resulting in a five bedroom home plus a study. The couple also moved rooms around and altered the sizes of bathrooms and the laundry, a process that gave them a lot of satisfaction.

“This was one of the reasons we decided to build with Paal – the flexibility to change the plans to suit our needs at no extra cost,” Kylie said.

“We also liked having lots of Paal display homes to look at when making our choice. You could see the products and the finished results.”

The couple employed tradespeople to erect the house – a process, according to Brad, that was straightforward, provided you were patient and methodical.

They liked Paal’s responsiveness during the building process. A change in a window finish was accomplished within two days.

At an Open Day held at the completed home, visitors were impressed with the chosen layout. One pair said they would use the Winsors’ floor plan ideas for their own new home.

“We’re very pleased with the result – as well as with the substantial savings we made. Other people like our house too, and we’ve already recommended it to friends who are thinking of building their own Paal home,” Brad said.
