Building with Paal is “a much smoother process”

Grant and Justine Brackenrig loved building with Paal because they were able to change the standard house design to suit themselves.

They also appreciated the ease of construction for their building contractor. Reflecting on the build, Grant said, “It was a much smoother process, without any hold ups that I’d experienced with other traditional styles of build.”

The couple chose the Richmond design to fulfil their desire for a large home. “We let Paal do everything, although Justine wanted certain things her way in the kitchen and assigned a local person to design and install it.

“That is what we loved about Paal – the flexibility to make choices and change things where you want.”

The Brackenrigs made a few other alterations to the design including extending the house and widening the verandahs. They added a gym and games room which opens out onto the alfresco area. Grant knows this large outside space will be popular over summer, especially with the recent addition of a rock pool complete with water feature, barbecue and pizza oven.

Grant, a born-and-bred Mudgee lad, is a prominent local businessman. His wife Justine is originally from Sydney but now calls Mudgee home. The Brackenrig’s new Paal home on 40 acres is their first kit home.

“We heard about Paal through a work colleague Jillian who, with her husband, had built a Paal home in Goulburn,” Grant says.

“Jillian spoke very highly of her experience with Paal, especially the quality of the build and the pricing. You put the two together and Paal seemed a pretty good option to us.

“The Paal system makes design changes easy and the house came together in the way we wanted. We’re both very happy.”
