Hands-on build in a beautiful rural setting

Isaac Junod and Siobhan Doherty made a beautiful job of Paal’s classic Camden home on their country site in Wallacia, New South Wales.

The couple built the immaculately-finished residence themselves, with tradespeople hired for the roofing, plasterboarding, bricklaying and for electrical work.

Isaac is a licensed plumber and the couple’s general practical skills carried them through to complete the project.

The Camden is one of Paal’s most popular homes. “We were looking around, discovered Paal Kit Homes, and loved the layout of the Camden,” Siobhan said.

Siobhan and Isaac extended the verandah all around their house for further sun protection and to add to the home’s authentic colonial look.

The design has two frontages, four bedrooms including the master suite, a study at the rear, and a central family meeting area. A brick fireplace in the lounge completes the welcoming ambience.

HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY

The couple were working fulltime during the build, so devoted their weekends and holidays to the project.

Paal were available to help with any hitches that might be encountered along the way. “The build itself was straightforward and we didn’t have to call on Paal often. They were very helpful and friendly throughout,” Siobhan said.

The couple have now started a family.

COMPLIMENTS

“We love our home. It’s worked out very well and everyone compliments us on how it looks. We’re happy to recommend Paal to other homebuilders,” she said.

Would they build with Paal again? “Not yet, but definitely! It’s likely to be when our family has grown up and we’re ready to downsize.”
